DUMAGUETE CITY – Metro Pacific Dumaguete Water Services Inc. or Metro Dumaguete Water (MDW), a joint venture between Metro Pacific Water (MPW) and the Dumaguete City Water District (DCWD), has partnered with the Philippine National Police (“PNP”) through the Dumaguete City Police in distributing food packs and COVID-19 Health Kits at the Ecopark and Solid Waste Processing Facility in Candau-ay, Dumaguete City.

The food packs and COVID-19 Health Kits containing face masks, alcohol, vitamins, and other hygiene essentials were distributed to a total of 100 beneficiaries. These activities were part of the 26th Police Community Relations celebration of the Dumaguete City Police, which included Barangayanihan (Bayanihan sa Barangay) and Food Bank Activities for the whole month conducted around different barangays in Dumaguete.

The Barangayanihan Project is the PNP’s national initiative to boost the Bayanihan spirit within the PNP and the communities they serve through various programs such as food banks, relief operations, civic activities, and other community support services. PLTCOL Joeson Parallag, acting Chief of Police of the Dumaguete City Police, thanked MDW for their support in the Barangayanihan Project.

“This partnership with MDW is the essence of Barangayanihan, to bring together different sectors of the community and address the community’s needs. We hope to work together with MDW and more sectors in Dumaguete as we continue this program”, PLTCOL Parallag shared.

“We thank the PNP for letting us be part of their Barangayanihan activity. Through the Health Kits, we hope to increase awareness on proper hygiene and sanitation to help prevent the spread of COVID-19,” MDW Chief Operating Officer (COO) David Berba said in a statement.

Apart from the Health Kits and food packs, MDW also turned over fourteen (14) handwashing facilities to Dumaguete City for their Hugas Luwas Dumaguete Community Handwashing Program. Berba mentioned another ten (10) handwashing facilities are expected to be turned over by August as MDW continues to support the City’s sanitation program in response to the pandemic.

MDW commits to strengthen partnerships with the LGU and the community through their health and safety and environmental corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
